A mysterious monolith (main picture) has been appearing in remote locations around the world since November last year, without any explanation as to what they are supposed to signify.
Clearly modern in its construction, the metal monolith – which looks vaguely like an obelisk – was first spotted on 18th November in the desert in Utah, in the US. Then it disappeared about 10 days later.
After disappearing from Utah, it has reappeared in various locations including Belgium, the UK and Romania.
Andrei Carabelea, mayor of Piatra Neamt, the Romanian city in which the monolith appeared, wrote on his Facebook page: “There is no reason to panic for those who think there is still life in the universe.
“My guess is that some alien, cheeky and terrible teenagers left home with their parents’ UFO and started planting metal monoliths around the world. First in Utah and then at Piatra Neamt. I am honoured that they chose our city.”
No one has yet been able to explain anything about the monoliths beyond standard observations. But clearly the people behind it have money and manufacturing and logistical expertise.
Some might say that they are either attempting to undermine some theories about monolithic and megalithic structures found all over the world, preferring to continue to promote the theory that all of them are no more than 5,000 to 6,000 years old – about the same age as the oldest religions on Earth.
Others – often called alternative historians, archaeologists and researchers – are of the view that many of the massive stone structures found all over the planet are far older, at least 11,000 years old.
They point to Gobekli Tepe, a stone structure discovered in 1994 in Turkey which is dated to about 12,000 years ago.
Alternative researchers claim this date – 12,000 years before present time – is about the date of many of the most famous supermassive structures all over the world and point to a scientific and technological age when humans were far more advanced than modern mainstream archaeologists give them credit for.
What is undisputed is that, to date, modern science and engineering methods are not capable of shaping and transporting the huge stones that went into most of the megalithic structures in question.
Ancient megalithic buildings all over the world often have stones that are more than 100 tons and sometimes around 1,000 tons built into them, and are often very precisely sculpted and placed.
This is beyond modern technology’s capabilities, an anomaly which has caused a divide between mainstream scholars and alternative historians.
